Beckett’s the Ace

Ladies and gentleman, for all the noise that tomorrow’s starter makes, Beckett at least does his talking on the mound.

If you haven’t noticed by now, Josh Beckett is maturing before your eyes. He’s becoming a pitcher this year and it’s all thanks to the coaching and mentoring of not Mr. Schilling, but the entire coaching staff and Jason Varitek.

Today’s win will absolutely give him an edge in the Cy Young voting. And why not? He’s emerged as a premier pitcher in the hardest division in baseball.

The other candidates? Well, until today’s game I would have been struggling with giving a mental edge to Wang since he’s basically been the starting glue for the team.

C.C. Sabathia is in the mix, but he just can’t come close to the consistency from Beckett (or Wang).
