The bullpen, the most heralded in the majors until about a week ago, has blown another game. It’s actually pretty dismal to watch the lead go down, run by run and then turn off the television with a sense of “What just happened??”.
Today’s game may be rained out if it doesn’t stop, but that might be just what the doctor ordered. Remember in 2004 when things just started to feel like they were changing? It started with a rainout that actually gave them a chance to get their <expletive> together.
Rain or shine, these guys have to stay focused and not lose the rest of this weekend.
EDIT [11:00 AM, EST]: I forgot to mention that today’s game will probably decide who wins the AL Cy Young Award. If either Beckett or Wang dominate today, they’ll get a huge boost in the Cy Race.
