Cheap home runs

The largest (live) crowd ever to witness a Major League Baseball game took place last night at the LA Colosseum between the Dodgers and Sox. Nomar was unavailable for comment. However, I do want to point out one silly thing that came out of it. The cheap home runs comments by Los Angeles media (and, the SI / AP story). Were it not for these two home runs by Youkilis and Cash (sounds like an 80s buddy flick), the Sox would have more than likely been on the losing side.

My feeling towards any situation like this is as follows:

The rules, environment and weather are the same for both teams, no matter which side wins the battle.

Who can forget the Baltimore Blizzard or the lightening strike that absolutely freaked out Nomar and made the players scurry from the field?

Regardless of where the foul pole is set up, both teams should have used it to their advantage. Number 1, it’s an exhibition game; what better time to hit some balls the opposite way for lefties. Number 2, it’s an exhibition game; does anyone really care?

PLEASE bring in the regular season and get Beckett to the mound.
